Cosmetic Dentistry

At Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry of Connecticut, we believe that cosmetic dentistry involves finding the most effective and innovative solutions to repairing and restoring the appearance of cracked, broken and otherwise damaged teeth. This means that Dr. Gross’s patients can expect to achieve optimal oral health and a stronger bite, with a natural looking smile that will endure for years with proper maintenance. By combining and customizing such options as porcelain crowns, tooth bonding, teeth whitening, tooth reshaping, dental implants, and porcelain veneers, both health and beauty can be restored to even the most badly damaged mouth.

TMJ Treatment

The letters TMJ stand for temporomandibular joint, and the three letters are commonly associated with a disorder of the area. The pain and dysfunction of the area is also known as TMD, or temporomandibular joint disorder. The name of the joint comes from where the head and jaw meet: the part of the skull called the upper temporal bone and mandible, or lower jawbone. These bones are separated by cartilage, and there are three ligaments and five muscles involved in the area. Many people experience problems in this joint. Those problems may be caused by muscle tension, trauma to the head and/or neck or malformation or misalignment of the teeth.
There are many symptoms for the TMJ disorder which include but are not limited to:
Pain in the ears
Soreness or aches when opening and closing the mouth
Clicking or popping sounds of the jaw when opening or closing

Dr. Gross offers treatment for this disorder and works in conjunction with other medical professionals to resolve the problems associated with the temporomandibular joint, or TMJ .

Root Canal

RootCanal1A root canal is the more commonly known name for root canal therapy or endodontic therapy. This procedure eliminates the infection found when a cavity reaches deep into the physical hollows of a tooth. Once this type of infection occurs, it needs to be treated since it cannot be healed on its own. The symptoms of an infection in this area of the tooth may include sensitivity to hot or cold or sweets, pain to biting or pressure or swelling. Following the procedure, a restoration such a crown may be recommended to protect the tooth’s remaining structure.

Oral Hygiene

Oral hygiene, or dental cleaning, is the removal of plaque and tartar from the teeth. Plaque is a yellow, sticky film that forms on teeth and tartar is hardened plaque. If plaque and tartar are not regularly removed from the teeth, decay will occur, causing discomfort and potential future tooth loss.

At Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry of Connecticut, we understand that healthy teeth are a part of looking good and feeling well overall. Healthy teeth enable us to smile confidently and speak properly. We offer gluten-free dental cleanings in our office, and we are also latex-free.

Dr. Gross recommends twice annual dental cleanings, and preventive care which includes proper brushing and flossing twice every day. These steps decrease the risk of gum disease, tooth decay and a variety of other dental problems.

Laser Dentistry

At Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry of Connecticut, our patients deserve no less than the most effective dental technologies. For safe, comfortable, and highly efficient hard and soft tissue treatments, we invite our patients to discover the benefits of laser dentistry. Laser dentistry offers the most innovative solution to a variety of oral health problems, often eliminating the need for anesthetic and more invasive techniques. As a result, for certain procedures, patients experience substantially less pain, bleeding, and recovery time than was previously possible with more traditional methods.

Gum Treatment

Gum treatment, or periodontal therapy, involves improving and maintaining the health of the gums and soft tissues of the mouth, as well as the prevention and treatment of gum disease. The gums, or gingiva, are a part of the soft tissue lining in the mouth. Your gums surround your teeth and are attached to the underlying bone. When there are changes in color to your gums, swelling, increased redness, bleeding, or separation from the bone, gum treatment may be necessary to preserve the health of your teeth. These issues may all be indications of gum disease. Although many are unaware, most American adults are affected by gum disease, or periodontal disease to some degree. Fortunately, periodontal disease is relatively easy to control when detected and treated before it has a chance to progress. This prevalence is one of the reasons why Dr. Aaron Gross encourages patients to schedule routine oral examinations and professional dental cleanings. As with most dental problems, prevention is the best line of defense against gum disease.

Dental Fillings

Dental fillings are used to restore the structure, shape and function of teeth in areas where there has typically been tooth decay or trauma. When detected in its earliest stages, tooth decay is generally easily treated. Dr. Aaron Gross uses a process where he is able to remove the decay, thereby preventing the formation of a more serious and painful cavity. He uses an enamel-like dental composite to repair the damaged area. Aside from restoring structural integrity to the tooth, the tooth-colored composite resin used can conceal chips, cracks, stains, and other imperfections in teeth. The results of dental fillings are immediate and often dramatic, ensuring that patients’ treated teeth are virtually indistinguishable from their surrounding natural teeth.

Dr. Aaron Gross of Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry of Connecticut has the technology and skills to relieve severe tooth pain quickly and effectively. Agonizing tooth pain can arise due to trauma or even seemingly out of nowhere. No one should have to endure this pain any longer than necessary. Dr. Gross offers emergency dental treatment to his valued patients, including root canals, routine extractions and TMJ treatment.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening, or dental bleaching, is one of the most popular procedures in cosmetic dentistry, and can be done in-office or at home. Teeth that are uniformly white appear healthier, youthful, and more vibrant than teeth that are discolored. Unfortunately, over time, teeth can lose some of their natural luster, particularly when they become dulled by such stubborn stains as those created by tea, coffee, tobacco, and soda. In such cases, even an otherwise beautiful smile can lose much of its warmth and charm.
Thankfully, modern cosmetic dentistry offers a number of solutions for restoring teeth to their ideal brightness. We are able to help patients achieve the beautiful smiles they desire through laser teeth whitening and tray whitening. Laser whitening is performed in the office within an hour and custom tray whitening is done for 15 to 30 minutes per day within the comfort of home. As dental technology continues to change, dental bleaching becomes increasingly effective and the results are more immediate and longer lasting. We are devoted to staying abreast of these advances and our patients receive the benefits of the most advanced teeth brightening techniques available.

Dentures1 Our office provides the highest quality, custom-crafted dentures to both first-time and long-time denture wearers. Dentures are prosthetic devices, or false teeth that are constructed to replace missing teeth. Dr. Gross is delighted to help those who have never been completely satisfied with the fit, function, or appearance of their dental appliance. Through his extensive experience, he has developed a unique ability to blend precision, aesthetics, and an acute sense of detail in creating prosthetics that are ideally suited to the individual requirements of his patients. As a result, he has helped countless patients regain control over such tasks as chewing and speaking, as well as the renewed confidence to smile once again. You can rely on Dr. Gross to craft dentures that are strong, comfortable, and remarkably natural looking. You will enjoy a stronger bite, better oral health, and a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Dental Implants and Implant Restorations

For patients who are missing one or more of their natural teeth or who suffer from teeth that are severely damaged or malformed, Dr. Aaron Gross of Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry of Connecticut is pleased to offer the option of cosmetic implant dentistry. Made of pure titanium, dental implants are artificial tooth roots that are permanently planted into the jaw. The artificial tooth root is then allowed time to osseointegrate, or form a bond to the bone in the jaw. After the surgery, a custom-crafted abutment and porcelain dental prosthetic is then affixed to the implant, allowing patients to regain the complete function, feel, and appearance of their natural teeth. Whether used to replace a single missing tooth or support a bridge or a denture, dental implants give patients the confidence of knowing that they have the most secure and aesthetic solution to missing teeth currently available. Dr. Gross’s implants and restorations are so natural looking they are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.

Dental bonding is a procedure where the teeth can be repaired or reshaped with a tooth-colored resin material and cured with light. In addition to being used to lend structural support to areas of the teeth where decay has been removed, dental bonding can be used as a quick, effective means of closing gaps and achieving a more cosmetic result. It can be used to reshape and redefine teeth, masking chips, cracks, stains, and other imperfections to create an entirely new, stunning smile that is free from aesthetic flaws.

Dr. Gross roughens the surface of the tooth, applies a bonding agent, and then adds the tooth-colored resin material. He then cures the material and polishes until the treated teeth perfectly match the size, shape, color, and texture of surrounding original teeth. As with all cosmetic dental procedures he performs in his practice, Dr. Gross combines his artistic sensibilities with his carefully honed dental skills to ensure the most natural looking, aesthetically pleasing results possible. These results will last for years with proper care.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are one of the customized cornerstones of cosmetic dentistry that Dr. Gross uses to create a truly successful smile makeover. Veneers are extremely thin, carefully crafted laminates that are bonded to teeth and provide an option for closing gaps, creating symmetry in the smile, and covering discolored teeth that have not responded to whitening services. Veneers are desirable because they require very little tooth structure to be removed and enable dramatic results.

Strong, resilient, and remarkably natural looking, veneers are an ideal solution for patients who wish to restore beauty to chipped, cracked, discolored, misshapen, or otherwise flawed teeth. Dr. Gross uses only the finest materials, techniques and technology to ensure an exquisite result.

Crowns and Bridges

For patients whose teeth have suffered more serious damage, we at Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry of Connecticut offer the option of high quality porcelain crowns. Extraordinarily strong and durable, porcelain crowns are custom crafted to cover the entire surface area of a damaged tooth. Not only do crowns improve the appearance of teeth that have been affected by decay, trauma, or discoloration, they also strengthen teeth that have cracked or are at high risk of cracking in the future. By reinforcing these weaker teeth, porcelain crowns minimize and often eliminate tooth pain while restoring the natural, vibrant beauty of their patients’ smiles.

For patients who are missing one or more of their original teeth, we also offer the option of dental bridges. Dental bridges restore the appearance and the health of the mouth, and return strength to the bite. Dental bridges also prevent natural teeth from shifting into the gaps left by missing teeth. Dental Bridges are pontics, or artificial teeth crafted from strong, durable porcelain, that are supported by crowns on either end. They are perfectly secure, so patients can eat, speak, and smile with absolute confidence. Dr. Gross takes special care in customizing dental bridges for his patients, ensuring that they fit comfortably and perfectly complement the surrounding natural teeth. With proper maintenance and a commitment to oral hygiene, this dental appliance can last for many years.

Dr. Gross is a CEREC doctor and with this technology located at Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry of CT, we are able to offer crowns in a day.
